Hotel & Casino Wi-Fi Upgrade

Challenge
Weak or missing Wi-Fi coverage affected a hotel and casino with over 500 rooms.
Solution
Upgraded wireless infrastructure with Ruckus access points. Implemented FortiGate SD-WAN across two separate internet connections and VLAN segmentation to separate network traffic.
Outcome
Improved Wi-Fi coverage across the property, including over 500 rooms, with segmented network traffic and management of both internet connections.

Hong Kong
Design House Hybrid Cloud & Secure Connectivity

Challenge
The design house used on-premises Active Directory and file servers. It needed more flexible collaboration while retaining local control of confidential files, including access from its warehouse.
Solution
Established a hybrid Microsoft 365, Microsoft Entra ID and SharePoint environment. Confidential files remained on the local server; suitable design and collaboration files moved to SharePoint. A FortiGate site-to-site VPN connected the warehouse and head office for access to confidential files. Added local NAS and cloud backups.
Outcome
Teams could access SharePoint collaboration files from different locations while confidential files remained locally managed. The VPN provided warehouse access to head-office files, with local NAS and cloud backup layers supporting data protection.

Accounting Firm Network & Email Modernization

Challenge
The local network was slow. Shared POP accounts such as info and audit were configured on multiple Outlook clients with 99-day server retention. Mailbox space issues occurred, and one user could download and remove messages from the server, leaving colleagues unable to access them.
Solution
Upgraded the local network to 2.5GbE using FortiGate and UniFi equipment. Migrated email to Microsoft 365 Exchange Online and introduced shared mailboxes for the shared addresses.
Outcome
Improved local network performance. Authorized staff could access the same centrally stored shared emails, reducing the problem of messages becoming unavailable after another user downloaded them. The shared mailbox workflow removed reliance on the previous 99-day POP server-retention arrangement.
During a renovation, the residence needed an upgrade from its existing 1G network and integrated control of home systems.
Solution
Upgraded the UniFi home network from 1G to 10G and improved whole-home Wi-Fi. Integrated Control4 with KNX for lighting, motorized shades, TVs, whole-home and multi-room audio, the gate and garage doors. Enabled Siri voice control for selected functions.
Outcome
Provided upgraded home connectivity and integrated control of the home systems, including audio across multiple rooms. Selected functions could also be controlled by Siri.
